BELL HEADS TO THE MOUNTAINS
Bell & Associates is set to begin construction on the Foothills Parkway Bridge in April 2010. The 790 foot bridge will be built on very steep terrain in the foothills of the Smoky Mountains.
Construction will be performed from the top down, using a trestle mounted gantry crane and work platforms. The Foothills Parkway Bridge will be located between Pigeon Forge and Townsend Tenn.
This project is a design build project for Bell. This $24 million project will be the first project between Bell and the Eastern Federal Lands Highway Division.
The design phase will begin January 2010, with construction beginning in April, and an expected completion date of December 2011. The design team on this project is Corven Engineering. For those local to Nashville or who have traveled the Natchez Trace, you have seen John Corven’s work on the well-known Natchez Trace Bridge that spans across Highway 96 in Franklin, Tenn.
